Ai Otsuka-Otsuka Ai (大 塚 愛) also known as Ai Chan, born September 9, 1982 in Osaka, is a singer, songwriter, model, actress, illustrator and writer of Japanese children's books.
Ai Otsuka was hired in 2002 by the label Avex Trax after recording a demo with the songs
"Daisuki da Yo and Amaembo" and her first appearance was in 2003 with the first single "Momo no Hanabira" but then not being recognized as being in the 24th on the charts (Oricon - like the American Billboard). Ai began to be known from her second single "Sakuranbo" released in the same year.
Where it all began

Pianist since the age of 4, becoming one of her passions, Ai after finishing the high school followed her career in the arts at Osaka University, also graduating as a preschool teacher. Ai began writing and composing her own songs in her early teenage, and the 20-year-old decided to get a risk as a professional singer and at the same time continue studying.

Her second single "Sakurambo", released on December 17, 2003, ranked 5th in the Oricon charts for
101 weeks, almost two years being the twelfth best selling single in 2004, the song was used as a the-me for the Mecha-Mecha Ikiteru! and Count Down TV.
On March 3, 2004 she released her third single "Amaenbo" which was used in television advertisement for Stona Rhini S Stona Rhini S (ストナリニS, sutona rini S?) tablets.
Her debut album "Love Punch" was released on March 31, 2004 and was a blast, ranking 6th on the
Oricon charts, sold 190,265 of copies in its first week of sales, the album had a major commercial success with the 20th album being sold in 2004, Ai thus gained the nickname of (The New Guru of Love).
On July 7, 2004 Ai was already working on her fourth single "Happy Days" from her next album, this work helped her appear in a promotional television commercial of a product, which were the Ice Box
product company of Morinaga confectionery. Ai played the dreamy Rei Iwatsuki, who lived in the city of Kochi, who fled inside a ship to go in search of his dreams by going to the Japanese capital of Tóquio. Arriving in Tóquio she found a job as a waitress in a restaurant and met the guitarist Ryuuj Shintani pla-yed by the actor Eita Nagayama (永山 太). Ryuuji liked his voice and invited her to join his band as a vocalist at, "The Survival Com-pany" also known as "Sabakan". The two had a relationship, but they split up when Rei decided to write her own songs.
Rei made friends with other girls who worked and frequented the restaurant, Hirono Hayama played by Rio Matsumoto (松本 莉緒), Ryoko Fujiki played by Yōko Maki (真木 よう子) and Maki Abiko played by Mao Kobayashi ( 央 麻 央) all in search of their dreams, thus becoming good friends.

Ai also has a radio program called (Otsuka Ai ai-r Jack) and has appeared in several CMs . She also wrote in two Japanese column magazines (Love Column) in the Zipper and (Love World ~Eye Love Pictures) in the B-Pass."Kimi Iro Omoi", her first photobook was released in March 2005..
A full-fledged graphic artist, the limited-edition first impressions of some of the singles included an illustrated book by Ai. Many of her illustrations can be seen on her official website in the gallery section.
On April 24, 2005 Ai began her first tour called "Jam Punch Tour 2005", ending her tour in June 2005.
On February 9, 2005, the seventh single "Kuroge Wagyu Joshio Tan Yaki 680 Yen", was released in 3rd
position in the Oricon, which earned her an improved contract with Avex Trax and also won the Outsta-nding Artist Award at Japan Record Award.
On May 11, 2005, their eighth single "Smily/Bidama" was the first to reach 1st position on Oricon, while the drama Tokio Friends was debuted. Their ninth single was released on July 13, 2005 "Neko ni Fūsen" a song dedicated to cats did not reach 1st position on Oricon, being the least sold single of their third album "Love Cook".
Her first DVD was released "Jam Punch Tour 2005 ~Condor no Pants Gakui Condor~", on July 27, 2005.
On September 21 of the same year the tenth single "Planetarium", was released, this being its second biggest success being just behind "Sakurambo". More mature musically Ai released their third album
"Love Cook", which was released on December 14, 2005.
In April 12, 2006, Ai released her eleventh single "Frienger", being filmed your promotional video in Taiwan, and used as a commercial theme to promote Toshiba's W41T 4GB mobile MP3 players.
The "Love Cook Tour 2006" was the second DVD released by Ai, "Love Cook 2006 TOUR no Osaka-jou Hall" on May 9, 2006, promoting her bestselling third studio album "Love Cook". The DVD was certified as Gold by the Indústria Fonográfica do Japão for selling 100.000 units.
She also composed a song for the singer Ami Suzuki (鈴木亜美) who shares the same-label record that was released on July 26, 2006. "Like a love?". There was speculation that the song would be a success because it had been composed by Ai, but however for lack of dissemination the music did not reach its goal. Shortly after the release of "Frienger", Ai reprized his role of "Rei" in the movie "Tokyo Friends: The Movie", arriving in Japanese theaters on August 12, 2006, the film and a follow-up to the previous DVD drama, "Tokyo Friends", used as theme song of the single "Yumekui" in the film, which was released as its twelfth single on August 2, 2006.
In commemoration of her third year of her career since her debut with "Momo no Hanabira", performed a special concert on "Hibiya Yagai Ongaku-Do" in September 9, 2006, entitled "Love is Born~ 3rd Anniversary 2006 ~". On June 7, 2007, Ai Otsuka performed at the Makuhari Messe for one of two concert of Live Earth in Japan alongside of the singers Koda Kumi (倖田來未) and Ayaka (絢香).
On July 9, 2007 at the Tokyo International Forum Show was presented the concert "Ai am Best Tour 2007 ". After singing the final track "Love Music", Ai also sang "Sakuranbo" and "Chu-Lip", next to its public. "Ai am Best Tour 2007 ", on September 26 of the same year was released as its fourth DVD, it reached 2nd position in the Oricon weekly ranking, and continued to rank for a total of twenty weeks. RIP SLYME, the two had collaborated on the song "Aisu x Time"on the album "Love is Best".
"I ♥ ×××" was her twenty-third single recorded on September 8, 2010. The song was used as a theme for NHK School Chorus 2010 and for NHK Minna no Uta of August to September 2010.

On May 21, 2014 "More More" was released being the 25th single recorded by Ai. It has been released in two versions a CD only edition and an edition with CD and DVD. The single was the first release of their sixth studio album "Love Fantastic",released two months later on July 16.
On November 12, 2014 his second digital album was released for download, "Ballad Collection".This collection came with the slower songs of Ai.
On December 16, 2014 was released its fourteenth DVD entitled Love Fantastic Tour 2014 ~Oootsuka Ai wa Mahooutsuka Ai~. A day later was released their first live album called "Love Fantastic Tour 2014 ~Otsuka Ai wa Maho Tsukai~".
On April 22, 2015, Ai released their seventh album titled "Love Tricky", containing CD versions and one with CD and DVD, if purchased through her official fan club, came with a bonus CD with remixes. The album was co-produced by Abe Noboru from Studio Apartment and features a sound that is a bit more electronic than its older works.
On December 16, 2015 was released his second album live and the first in digital, "Love Tricky Live Tour 2015 ~Healthy Music de Taijuu Herushii~", this album was just for download. April 7, 2018 was released for download the twelfth "Dracaena -TV Anime Size Ver.-" and June 16 of the same year was digitally released the 'thirteenth single "Dracaena" are the twelve and thirteen digital singles released by Ai , respectively.
